Adult Communication Assessment
Understanding your communication profile can be a powerful first step towards making meaningful changes.
We offer comprehensive adult communication assessments that are:
Conducted online from the comfort of your home
Flexible and tailored to your needs
Spread over several sessions to build a detailed understanding of your communication skills
Focused on both strengths and areas of difficulty
Rather than relying on a single appointment, we take time to gather information across multiple sessions. This allows us to develop a more accurate picture of how communication impacts your daily life, work, relationships, and wellbeing.
-
Discussion of your communication history and experiences
Exploration of current workplace, educational, social, or family challenges
Standardised assessment activities where appropriate
Evaluation of understanding and use of language
Assessment of social communication skills
Identification of strengths, barriers, and support needs
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Many adults are familiar with autism and ADHD, but fewer have heard of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).
DLD is a lifelong condition that affects a person's ability to understand and/or use language. It begins in childhood but often continues into adulthood. Because awareness of DLD has traditionally been low, many adults have reached adulthood without ever receiving an assessment or diagnosis.
-
Difficulty finding words during conversation
Challenges explaining thoughts clearly
Problems remembering verbal information
Needing extra time to process spoken language
Difficulties understanding complex instructions
Challenges following group discussions or meetings
Struggles with reading or writing demands
Feeling less confident in social or professional interactions
Fatigue from the effort required to keep up with communication demands
Many adults describe feeling intelligent and capable but finding that communication requires significantly more effort than it appears to for others.
If this sounds familiar, a specialist assessment can help determine whether DLD or another communication profile may be contributing to your experiences.
